Joe Hill is a good man. One trait that draws you to him is that he isn't jaded yet about these appearances and booksignings. He really seems to appreciate that people buy his books and even come to see him.

As you probably know, Joe was the writer in the comic book Spider-Man Unlimited #8 that was released in May 2005. On a whim that morning, I started calling around to see if any stores had a back copy of it available before that night's event. I called four comic book stores and finally one store had one copy. I went down and bought it for the cover price.

Here is Joe signing it after the reading and the Q&A.

Then he signed my book (with a fabulous inscription).

And finally, Joe Hill and one of his fanboys...

Yeah, ok, that's me.

While driving up there, I had a few minutes of, "What the hell am I doing? I just saw him three days ago." But once I was there, I was so glad I made the trip. :)

I should be thanking you, Joe. In fact, I will: Thanks, Joe!

By the way, if anyone is interested, I posted a photo in the Comics forum of the Spider-Man Unlimited #8 that Joe signed that night.

Thanks, Sybil. Personally I would not pay $35 for the comic book. It isn't rare, people are just trying to cash in on the Joe Hill hype.
