Editing a post

Postby KingoftheHill on Thu May 10, 2007 11:50 am

I'm not able to edit my posts. Will this function be enabled at some point? I'm a chronic "fast typer" but hate my typos!

Thanks for the site, Joe!!!

Shane said somewhere in a different thread that he's temporarily disabled them so he can work on the site for a little while. Don't know when the feature will be available again, but it shouldn't be too long...
*A sobering thought: What if, at this very moment, I AM living up to my full potential?

Bill (and everyone else, for that matter),

The function should be back for you to use. Sorry for the inconvenience gang, but in the event such things happen again, just remember that hitting the 'preview' button before submitting will give you a clear look at how the posts will look, and this is especially helpful when using quotes or images.

Heh, welcome!

Be careful though -- it's fine and good to change a typo here, or fix something there... but if people start doctoring their posts *too* much, I'm not going to allow it (for what I hope are obvious reasons), and then you'll have to live with the Preview instead! :)

Oh hell. I do a lot of editing. I guess the obvious reasons aren't so obvious to me. What are they?

i think he means not to change or erase the original post so much that subsequent remarks make no sense. i can't speak for others, but i don't think any who are here from the mile would edit that heavily, shane. i know sometimes, someone has come back to say, "i was wrong/too harsh/really stupid, but i'll leave my post there anyway.

probably, he also doesn't want anyone to call someone a rotten donkey-sucking son-of-an-asshole and get everyone all upset and then delete it and act all innocent by the time shane gets here.

Yes, just for typos. 8) I always forget about the preview screen, but even with that, I'll miss a mispelled word. Not that I'm anal about it, but I'm always screwing up the they're-their-there crap too!

Thanks for all you do Shane!

I constantly misspell, so I like to be able to go back and fix things the best I can. Yes, Shane, I appreciate your efforts on behalf of Joe's messageboard community, for all that you do.

I tend to use the edit button more to add stuff than anything else. I'm one of those people who think of something really good to say later.
