The Buyer Beware thread

Postby Shane on Fri Jun 27, 2008 4:07 pm

I don't know how long this will stay up, or if it'll be used much at all... but, this will be the thread where people can post images of their Joe Hill purchases to try and get validation on whether or not theirs is a legitimate buy.

As always, in order to post images here on the board, you've got to host the pictures yourself somewhere, like Photobucket.com or Flickr.com, someplace like that. Using the Image Code (IMG) will showcase your image for all to see. There's more information about how to do this in the FAQ, which is found here:

Well, technically though, that doesn't mean anything. If you were going to perpetuate a fraud, you could present a picture of Joe from any signing and pass it off as being authentic. You know?

Some months ago, on a different message board, the publisher of "Voluntary Committal" said that there were counterfeit copies floating around.

I haven't seen any myself, as I've not been following the auctions on that chapbook too closely since I own it already, but I thought I'd mention it as a posible "Buyer Beware" book.

I purchased a fake VOLUNTARY COMMITTAL via kickbuttbooks.

If anyone needs to see what a fake looks like I have the pics.

Also the proud owner of forged signature and
numbered version of 20CG via kickbuttbooks.

I guess I'm what they call a rube.

Hey, wouldn't this be great. Joe could
sign my forged copy of 20CG and write
explitives about fakes in it? That would
be pretty cool, eh?

I've already sent my copy of VOLUTARY
COMMITTAL away to a helpful party.

i think that's a fantastic idea, too! i know mine are all real, and since i'm not ever going to sell them, i don't need verification for that. thanks for doing this, shane.
