Authenticity of Signed Books

Postby ChrisF on Thu Jul 24, 2008 12:05 am

This past October I made two purchases with Kickbuttbooks, one for a U.S. 1st Edition Signed and Number 20th Century Ghosts and the other for the UK Paperback Signed 20th Century Ghosts. I was wondering if Joe could look at these pictures and can confirm or deny their authenticity. Thanks!

Chris,

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but those are definitely fakes. You should get in touch with the seller, and ask for your money back.

That sucks, man. Sorry.

No, I can tell immediately from just seeing the signature. Joe's is as recognizable as my own to me, and it just leaps out from the page when it's wrong.

When Chris first posted his pictures, I tried to ptst mine (it was when the board was here one sec, gone the next) b/c you could see a difference in the signatures. I only have the two to compare to - but they are clearly different. So, for future reference here's mine:

Well I was able to get my money back, still upset that they technically ruined two very good 1st edition books. Especially the UK version...

I'm glad you were able to get your money back but I agree that it is upsetting that they ruined those books. I hope that someday you'll get a chance to meet Joe at a signing. Or do what I did and watch the appearances forum to find out what stores he's doing a signing and call them that night. They'll sell you a signed copy over the phone and walk the book right up to Joe. He'll even personalize it...at least that's what he did for me. Good Luck! :)

Glad to hear you got your money back, Chris. I'm sad about the books being spoiled in that regard as well.

All my best to you.
