AVATAR

Well, watched the 16 minute preview, and to be brutally honest, IMO, I dont feel like this movie is bringing anything "breakthrough" to the plate. I was more impressed with the environments than the characters themselves. Sam Wor... annoys the hell out of me. Ive seen better 3D in other movies and to be honest about that, I thought that the new scrooge movie with Jim carrey 3D was way better. The only thing that I got excited about was seeing S.Weaver. Ive heard more than one person compare the story to" DANCES WITH WOLVES". to QUOTE ONE person...it looks like DANCES WITH WOLVES meets ELFQUEST.

I saw the preview and went, "meh."

I'm much more looking forward to Avatar: The Last Airbender. :)

Wow. Now I see what all the fuss was about.

Was it rich in character development or chock-full of Oscar-worthy acting? No, but it was damn good!! Exciting and visually beautiful while at the same time being a bit predictable. I know I sat there smiling like an idiot at many different scenes and wondering at how gorgeous it all looked. The plot reminded me quite heavily of Dances with Wolves. The bad guy is suitably bad...you really want him to die painfully, lol. See it in 3D...it's not to have anything 'jump out' at you, it's just the added depth that it gives....it's stunning to look at. The audience clapped at the end. If you go to the movies to be entertained and transported, then go see this one.

(Plus, you get to see some really cool 3D previews as well....)

I was kind of surprised it won as well, but I didn't see any of the other contenders.
Now I wish I had seen the 3D version. I might have enjoyed it more.

Avatar was everything I could have asked for in a movie and at the end of the day, that is all that matters.
