I can only look at this from a male point of view, because that's all I got. My wife, and my mother, and every other female in my life love love loves the books. I have to admit I did give them alot of guff blindly for a long time. As a life long fan of horror i could not wrap my head around sparkling vampires. Next along comes the movie, I went to it in support and to try to open minded about the whole franchise... Wow that was one bad bad movie. I am sorry but when did it become so attractive for a man to be such an effeminate? What would we have if John Wayne was alive today, would we see the duke as the kind of guy to look up to and try to be like? or would we look to him as someone that would never get a date because he is too masculine? When did it become better to be a skinny pale sad kid, than a real man? I have read the first book, and was not impressed. I get that a love that will last for all eternity, to find someone that loves you so much, it's not just a thing that women look for, but to believe that any sane man would rather "watch her sleep" than be with her physically... come one now.

I dont mind the twillight books anymore because even though the books are not that great....at least theres a kid with a book in his hand reading...one day that kid will seek out other authors and stories.

DOose, i think that the USARMY is having the same concerns about the people that are joining today....they are trying to "toughen" them up a little.

I am great with getting kids to read... but I also have met with kids that will read nothing else.

girls who think of men and romance in the terms of this book are going to be sorely disappointed later in life.

the thing that bothered me was "why did edward hang out at high schools if he was 108 years old?"
i can't even talk to kids 10 years younger than me without wanting to slap the cell phone out of their hands. let along 80+ year age difference.

and i hated the movie twilight for a few reasons. one: NOBODY OPENED THEIR MOUTH TO TALK. it was annoying how little their mouth opened beyond a slit to say some pithy emo remark.
i mean i can sit through anything.
ANYTHING! i watched the entire run of sex and the city for my wife and the movie.
twilight made me want to take a warm bath and open all the veins in my wrist.

I read Twilight cause a friend (?) loaned it to me has to be the worst book I ever read. Sunday my son had asked if we wanted to watch Steve Austin DAMAGE or New Moon, I voted for DAMAGE really good movie. When I didn't want to see the other one he said he'd leave it for GF to watch while he slept LOL
I loved the Clint Eastwood movies and Charles Bronson. Hated James Bond cause he looked like a wimp
