Bands you wish you saw live

What are you listening to now, and why isn't it Marah?

Since the only concert I've ever been to was The Bay City Rollers when I was about 7, I guess I'd pick every single band I love, and that'd be loads....

Yes, LK - you have been deprived! Why haven't you been to more?

Though I have been to concerts - I have never stayed for an encore. Even bands/artists I really enjoy. Even though they are now actually a scheduled part of the show...and they often play cover versions or something really good...I have always felt like it is an insult. It's just me and whacked out version of life....but I feel as though waiting for them to play more, waiting on an encore, is like making them work overtime. I have missed some good stuff with this philosophy and I do not recommend it :)

The best encore I ever saw was Modest Mouse at the Mid East in Boston. It was actually the second encore. The roadies were breaking down the equipment as Modest Mouse was playing. It ended when Brock's guitar was unplugged and the drummer was down to the bass drum.

Honestly....I think they love it, TG. I've seen Springsteen several times and watched his encores and I always got the feeling that they love what they are doing so much and are having such a good time that they just don't want the night to end!

Grasking, really? Mazzy Star? And you like Okkervil River?
It's really too bad you are so far away...there are some great bands at Jannus Landing in St. Pete we could enjoy with a nice, cold beer.

It's just me....something I have always felt and something I've always done. Leave before an encore.
Grasking, the Modest Mouse encore sounds awesome!

I have heard the start of encores as I was passing through the parking lots and was always thinking "What? They are playing that? Dammit!" but I keep headed towards my car. Like I said, it's just me and it is not recommended :)

And BB, I am sure they enjoy it. I like when they do cover versions b/c then you KNOW it's something the really like to play. I like 'em.

Too many miles inbetween.

Most of the shows I go see are about a two hour ride (Boston, New York, Providence). Although occasionally a good band plays in Northampton, which is about 20-30 minutes away.

I'm kicking myself for not seeing these guys live when I had the chance; The Mountain Goats performing the greatest song ever written, "No Children"
