I agree, its your business who's thang thang you put in your mouth, really, its your business Demo my man. I like to think of myself as 'progressive' and I would never judge you. Really. HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Yeah I would. Double Haaaa!!!!! But seriously, I know so many Tool fans who think of Maynard as someone who......... hmmmmmmmmm........ has a message? A message that goes against conventional thinking. Someone worth listening to. And some of these same people take it a step further and it could even be said that they see Maynard as a prophet like person, I'll just say. Maynard does have an interesting message,if it could be called that. And maybe when I was say, 17 or 18, I thought a lot of that message myself. But then you grow up and realize that the greatest message Maynard ever delivered was the one where he says to 'think for yourself'. In fact, I remember watching a clip of some Tool concert where Maynard says, repeat after me, 'Think for yourself', the crowd of course follows his orders, 'question authority', he goes on to say, the crowd obediently continues. He repeats it a few times and so do they. Then he goes, 'fucking idiots,' or something. The point is: he as the 'authority figure', tells them to 'think for themselves and to QUESTION authority and the sheep contradict what their repeating.Thats All am saying. And really Demo, I wont judge you, man. HAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I do listen to alot of music besides tool, but I don't think you've heard of half of the bands  . I enjoy Maynard's poetry of ideas and spiritualism. That whole "think for yourself...question authority" thing is actually a Timothy Leary quote that he latched onto and I am in complete agreeance with your gripe on the dialogue-regurgitating-cattle that can't (think for themsleves) ... Myanard is no prophet, I think he has a more of a marketability than a message,(dude can rock a note in my opinion"pushit").....However, I find him to be an inspiring song writer... a VERY smart man. and I would love to have his paycheck.
That being said this one's for DDBird :

The day has ended
I lay awake
A soft glow over my shoulder
I'll sleep soon
Wake tomorrow and then it's all the same

And I'll destroy the memories one by one
The bitter past erased
I'll not replace
What's done is done

Now THAT is my FAVORITE band
I want to embrace my desire to feel the rhythm,
to feel connected enough to step aside and
weep like a widow to feel inspired to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty to bathe in the fountain
to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human.

Just read it. I still would not have gotten it. Ani, you say? Is that a women? Cause I dont listen to broads. At home, at the office, or on a song, cant help it, stop paying attention and eventually just steer at their tits. Even with a song, I end up imagining me steering at their tits....... am just kidding, of course. Ani Difranco? Good? Bad?
Am waiting for the day that women will start to say, 'sorry, I stopped paying attention. I was steering at your bulge.' I for one would not feel degraded. I will feel empowered.

I got it, Learian. I was just tired of always being the one to post a response...lol
My turn!

You say it's all in my head
And the things I think just don't make sense
So where you been then? Don't go all coy
Don't turn it round on me like it's my fault
See I can see that look in your eyes
The one that shoots me each and every time
our love lives because i live.

The Pink song (BTW had a typo there and wrote Pink Dong, LOL but I fixed it) you spoke of in Random Thoughts? Just taking a stab....
It'd be so easy to just google these and get the answer, so that's why I don't participate much...I dunno know the answers. 'Cept if you throw me a Tori Amos :)

I hate Pink. And it really hurt my feelings when Scott Weiland, one of my all time fav musicians, presented her at some recent music award show as one of the most talented (or was in influential or something. Either way, something not at all warranted) artist of our time or something. That really hurt, Scott. Almost as much as leaving Velvet Revolver just when they were really starting to gel as a band. But at least he is back in STP, one of the most UNDERrated bands of the 90's. Also, his new solo album is actually really good. Wish it was more 'rocking', though. Why is it whenever hard rock singer goes solo they always ALWAYS soften up??? Chris cornell, anyone. One of the best singer songwriters of ALL TIME.

You know, DDB - I thought before I read through your whole post, when you called STP the most underrated bands of the 90's, "Nope, Soundgarden" - I pick them b/c "I" underrated them, I hear SG now and I am blown away - Chris Cornell & the band were awesome and I was pretty blind to it. I also liked Temple of the Dog....I listened and sang along...I just thought they were "Blah", take 'em or leave 'em.
Then I saw you mentioned Chris, LOL.

I can definitely agree with that. That man has the PERFECT voice for rock. I remember (way back when) my band was doing a show at my highschool and my singer wanted to do "Rusty Cage"......note I said "wanted"
After about a week the band had that song so tight we could've played it in our sleep....my singer....::imatates Borat::
not so much.
He sounded so bad...man it was like Chris goining through puberty and tryin to sing country while doin it. Just the most throaty, cracking, nastiest thing your ever heard. Think of Peter Brady when they did the voice-change episode. Now think of him tryin to sing "Rusty Cage" like that.
The worst thing about it was my singer thought if we did "Hunger Strike" he might sound better......
needless to say my drummer stepped in and we ended up doin Pantera's "Cowboy's From Hell" heh go figure
Wholly Ramble Batman
sorry

Here's one I think is real easy.

"They will sum it all up in a sentence
A verdict made by those who know
Im ready to make a commitment
Im willing to make love to concrete
Smiles
Bruises
Smiles
Bruises
Bars in the womb
I hide the dirty minutes under my dirty mattress and they are making me itch
My time
Is spilt milk
My skin is a layer of soot
Im spending my days scrubbing
Im trying so hard to act like nothing happened (no one left to blame)
Im trying so hard to find that fresh, clean smell (no one left to blame)
Smiles
Bruises
Smiles
Bruises
Bars in the womb
I hide the dirty minutes under my dirty mattress and they are making me itch
My time
Is spilt milk
Cruel world sleeps above me
Mounting and teasing
I am what Ive done
I am what Ive done
Im sorry
Im sorry
Im sorry
Sorry
Sorry
Sorry"
