#amazonfail

With the Amazon debacle explained as a cataloging error, does anyone still have concerns about prior explanations in their own emails of removals being described as policy (since February)?
Also, for the media discussion, it seems as though this has been relegated as a LBGT issue (Lady Chatterley's Lover apparently=the new gay porn), but as a heterosexual who has had access to reading material, at my previously favorite corp impinged, I'm scared they will attach the minority label to other privileges like democracy is a Greek issue. I wonder since people only get riled when it's their own issues at stake, how easy it will be to dismiss things as a minority issue.
I'm not sure Amazon is the devil, but as a consumer, their competence doesn't inspire me, and their share of the market now kind of scares me.
For more explanation this might be useful:

I saw something about this on Neil Gaiman's blog...I didn't understand it there either. I know I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box, but could someone explain it to me like I was 5? What does "LBGT" mean and what has Amazon done that has gotten everyone so riled up?

I found this. So they're stripping the sales rankings of gay and lesbian books, but not the sales and removing them from some searches.

I also heard that amazon is taking down reviews by people who also link their material with their review

Thanks g...let me see if I understand this: Amazon removes the rankings of L, G, B & T books and that makes it impossible to search for them? So they are censoring books? And they are trying to claim it is some kind of computer glitch? What computer would target LGBT books without being told to do so?
I've never bought anything from Amazon, but I'd quit if I did. If a little kid is scouring the internet looking for information on sex then obviously his/her parents aren't answering their questions.

Well, from what I understand (could be the truth, could be bullshit) other books considered "adult material" were also compromised.

Here's what I say to all those complainers: If you don't like it. DON'T SHOP AT AMAZON.COM. Your dollar is your voice.

LOL, Grasking.
I agree to make your voice heard with your dollar. Glitch or no glitch, that was pretty shitty to "exclude" those books and catalog under adult material. They are fixing it and I can accept that.

Speaking of gay marriage, I use to be soooooo against it. Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a women and all that. Then I realized that most of my friends growing up only had a mother (father, in a few cases) in their lives and were missing something that I took for granted at the time. Marriage ceased being something holy when couples in this country started throwing in the towel at the first sign of something wrong, tearing apart families and scarring their kids forever. No longer is it something sacred. Us straight people are the cause of that. So, for me, unless the divorce rate in this nation plummets dramatically, that excuse for resisting gay marriage can no longer stay valid. So if gays want to be miserably married, so be it. NOW, GAYS ADOPTING CHILDREN?????? NO F'ING WAY.

Well, why are you against gays adopting children. here is what i think about it. If they can show love, and care for a child, then thats all that matters. Being gay is just as natural for them as it is natuaral for people to be straight. For those who want to argue the bible against it, then forget about it, cause im tired of people picking and chosing scripture to fit their argument.
A year ago, I would have said no. Today, I dont care if your gay and you want to get married or adopt. People are people and whether or not you like it or not, things are going to change.
