POST ELECTION FORUM

Postby doodoobird on Wed Oct 15, 2008 7:14 pm

Things have been getting kinda heated here at this lovely forum. Can we all make a pledge to tone it down a bit after the election????????????? Sure, there will still be issues and controversy. Kiuku will most likely still call Obama a terrorist. I still will insist that if Dems stay in power for too long we will all be speaking Arabic in a few years (just kidding of course. Kind of.). But I for one have been going all out in my attacks on Obama because he is not MY guy, but if he DOES get elected I will support him until he really fucks up. I still will be more critical of him then if McCain wins but I will show some sort of support. Put it like this, any fucking candidate who inherits this current mess we call America (still the greatest nation on Earth, baby!!) deserves a little support and leeway. So, we as good Americans, Republican or Democrat (aka socialist, communist, tree hugger............... just kidding again. Really), should come to an understanding that the American people have to unite and get behind our new leader to maximize effectiveness. In fact, many of our current problems and be said to be the bi-product of a divided nation. Further Partasinship will break us. We just cant afford another eight years of that shit, no matter who is in charge. I hope your love for America can see past the bullshit that divides us. Let us unite just to get things back on track. Then, when we are in decent shape again, we can go back at each others throats. Leading by example is how I for one operate. So I will lead this march into this brave new world. The question is, WHO IS BEHIND ME??????????????

....................... (I picture myself marching proudly, head high, radiating confidence. Something sounds funny. The sound of sole footsteps. I look back to see not a single soul. The sound was my own feet. How very sad.) So is that how it is, people??????? Will you get behind the DooDooBird????? Hope WE can believe in!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey DDB. Personally I don't understand where or why some people are upset. What bothers me is when people get personal with eachother, when they start using the word "you" too much, and personally attacking others. When a person's stance or ideas becomes more about them than it does about their opinion is when I say something. But honestly I don't see any problem at all.

This is why, if you notice, I've stopped addressing some people completely.

Personally, I won't support an Obama presidency. Like I said before, if I were still serving in the military, I'd have to take a court marshall. This is unacceptable.

You should support Obama if he is elected Kiuku. Just stomach it up. Give him a chance. In all fairness, he has become a little bit more moderate since becoming the nominee. There are certain things about him personally and his policies of course that make me very suspicious. But dont you see the direction we are heading if we stay divided?????? Now, you may say dont you see the direction we are heading if Obama is elected??? I know your thinking it. My answer is yes, there is potential for disaster. But if that is the case then we will kick the bum (assuming he proves himself to be one) out in four years and the Republicans will be stronger then ever.
At the very least, giving him a chance will save your fingers from a lot of angry typing for the next four years. Think about it............

I think I'll probably have to go along with your idea DDB...I have said that I was going to leave the country if Obama loses, but the truth is, with the economy in the toilet, I won't be able to afford it.

Where would you possibly go, Betsy???? Are economy aint the only one hurting. And you really think McCain would be so bad that you would have to leave the country????? I'll tell you what, the only way an Obama presidency will be successful is if the Dems win enough seats in the house and senate that they can override ALL republican opposition. God, thats a scary thought. A one party system for the next 2 4 6 8 years????? Will be socialist in no time.

In that case I may leave. No shit. But you know what, it will just be a matter of time before there will be a backlash to Democrat supremacy. But you know what will prob come first if the Dems in FULL control???? Are country officially becoming bankrupt. Naturally, like every other Dem, Obama wants to spend spend spend. With what money, I ask???? If ever there was a time for a TRUE fiscal conservative (Bush turned out to be the fucking opposite, though 9/11 had JUST A BIT to do with it), now is the time. And if there ever was a candidate who is a true fiscal conservative, it is John McCain. Why cant people see past the media bullshit and connect the dots. With the state of affairs, Obama is in a PERFECT position to bring about the downfall of our nation.

For some reason I can easily picture a series of events that will lead to our downfall. Then we will look back in retrospect and say, HOW COME WE COULDNT CONNECT THE DOTS WITH THIS MAN???? Bin Laden said that the way we will defeat the U.S is by the inside. Sleeper cell?????? I dont know, am talking all this shit because its interesting to think about. But at the same time, I can also envision a future where Obama puts us back on track, here at home and our standing the world. Door A or Door B????

I don't think Bin Laden necessary meant a sleeper cell. I think he meant that we would destroy ourselves, self -destruct. Look at the Patriot Act, and Guantantamo Bay.

Exactly what I've been thinking...after 9/11 all Bin Laden had to do was sit back and watch us destroy ourselves with fear. We've been so afraid of being attacked we told our leaders they could do whatever they wanted...use the Constitution for toilet paper, fuck up our economy and put our soldiers in harm's way on a whim. We need to get back to what this country was meant to be. "Give me liberty or give me death!"

BTW, we had "a one party system" for the first 6 years of Bush's reign and look where we are? McCain scares me--Palin scares me. I don't trust either one of them.

Well, first of all, thats what I meant about the one party system. Either way, its not good. No matter which party is in charge. And I dont really believe that Bin Laden meant a sleeper cell by his 'destroy from the inside' comment. In fact, I think I DO know what he meant by that. He meant us going bankrupt (I say this because ever since the war in Iraq his top guys have often claimed that we would eventually lose the war and our standing in the world by going bankrupt). Bullshit, though. I mean, yeah we are going threw some tough financial times but we are still BY FAR the strongest economy in the world. Not only that, but the strongest economy that MOST OF THE WORLD COMPLETELY DEPENDS ON. Including the fucked up middle east. And Guantanamo Bay and the Patriot Act can be seen as many things, but to even compare that to the word SELF DESTRUCT is completely BONKERS (sorry, I just wanted to use that word). Besides, Guantanamo bays days are numbered. The prisoners there are finally coming close to getting their days in court (those who have not already) and McCain AND Obama will be shutting that place down by the end of their first term. Which is the right thing to do, for our public image (though in truth I have a feeling that we will just be using our lesser known facilities in third world nations. Where interrogators are primarily compromised of men who could give two shits about international law. Of course, being overseen by nice American soldiers, C.I.A, F.B.I, E.T.C. Basically what am saying is, by having to take the moral high ground we are simply pushing this issue further underground, out of the public eye, which is prob best. So thank you all you do gooders who couldnt sleep at night because of the atrocities your country were committing. Thank you so much.). As for the patriot act, leaves room for a lot of serious abuse with no oversight but as it stands now, Joe Shmo CIA aint listening to your phone calls and yes SGT O'Reilly still needs a goddamn warrent to kick in your door. AMERICA STILL STANDS.

The reason I mentioned The Patriot Act and Gauntanamo Bay: Are those the values and ideals America stands for?
