Make Your Oscar Predictions

Truth is, I've never been more tuned out on the Academy Awards. I don't think I've seen any of the pics nominated except for PAN'S LABYRINTH and THE DEPARTED. Both great movies. I love Guillermo Del Toro, who is not just an outstanding director, but also a helluva writer, and if he doesn't win something for PAN I'm going to throw a shoe at the TV.

'Kay, I'm not going to predict in EVERY category, just ten of the big ones...

Original Song: Melissa Etheridge, "I Need to Wake Up"

Adapted Screenplay: Children of Men

Original Screenpaly: Pan's Labyrinth

Cinematography: Pan's Labyrinth, Guillermo Navarro

Supporting Actress: Jennifer Hudson, Dreamgirls

Supporting Actor: Eddie Murphy, Dreamgirls

Actress: Helen Mirren, The Queen

Actor: Will Smith, The Pursuit of Happyness

Director: Martin Scorsese

Film: The Departed

And I'm mostly just guessing too, I missed most of these. If I had my way, CHILDREN OF MEN and PAN'S LABYRINTH woulda been nominated for a whole lot more.

Short and sweet

Postby Barry_Wood on Sun Feb 25, 2007 8:02 pm

Only movie I saw was The Queen, so I will vote as follows:

Best Actress: Helen Mirren, The Queen

I'm watching the red carpet right now and in five minutes the show starts.

I'm watching right now also Barry. I'm hoping that Inconvenient Truth will win and while Al Gore is up there, he will announce his run for President.

I think that would be huge and what better way to reach millions of people--FREE!!!!!

I should be a PR person.

Well, I'm glad Randy Newman had James Taylor sing his song this year. I love Randy, but all his songs sound the same when he sings them.

But I want Melissa Etheridge to win this category.

I think he's just laying the groundwork Joe. He's going to win for Inconvenient Truth--he can still do it.

Did this French lady who just won for Best costume design just say something about "catching the clap?"

I think she did.
