As a long-time on again off again comic collector I was not surprised to see Cap get it. Death in comic books is literally always a rebirth for the character. In my opinion Cap getting Capped' actually was a painting of what's going on in America right now. It's as if America has been shot in the belly (Middle East situations, Terrorism, soaring energy costs, unspoken surge of unemployment, suspect/corrupt leadership) and may have to suffer until they are reborn.

Captain America has "died" and been reborn several times. This is nothing new. I'm just surprised they were able to keep it under wraps until it was released.
