Why do you become a Joe Hill fangirl?
1. He likes to write things.
2. He's good at what he writes.
3. He gives away free stuff like keys and autographs.
4. He's down-to-earth.
5. He's not a Hollywood flake. The man lives in New England.
6. He listens to NIN, so he can't be all that bad.
7. His sense of "humor."
8. He reads books written by girls, and he loves them too.
9. He uses multiple media and genres.
10. He looks hot.

When I bought Heart-Shaped Box, I didn't have a clue who Joe Hill was.
I liked the title of the book, which reminded me of a Nirvana song.
I also liked this photo on the back cover:

Things to say if you find Joe Hill alone at a Walmart:
1. Can I have your autograph?
2. I knew you liked the Twilight books.
3. No, I don't have a Twitter account.
4. Can I see the cover of Horns?
5. Can I read an advance copy of Horns?
6. Aren't you supposed to be writing something?
7. What happened to your wife?
8. What did you do with your kids?
9. I don't want a key. I want a kiss.
10. Aren't you the lead singer of the Foo Fighters?

What to do if you find yourself in bed with Joe Hill:
1. Hug him.
2. Kiss him.
3. Show him your tits.
4. Fall asleep in his arms.
5. Discuss the Red Sox.
6. Ask him about his favorite Neil Gaiman book.
7. Talk about NIN or Trent Reznor.
8. Help him finish his crossword puzzle.
9. Ask him about the plotline from Horns.
10. Try not to wake up his wife.
